A pregnant woman identified as Ginika Ikegwuonu Okechukwu was killed alongside her driver while her three children were seriously injured in a road crash that occurred in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Monday.


According to the Ondo State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, the crash occurred around 7.40am at the Ore tollgate on the Ore- Sagamu Expressway and involved a Lexus SUV with number plate KTU 141 FX and a truck with number plate EPE 72 SB .

It was gathered that a second crash happened at Kilometre 115 on the Ore - Sagamu Expressway , a few metres away from the Ore tollgate around 1 pm. Nine persons were involved in the accident out of which one was killed and six were injured. The crash was said to have involved a Toyota Sienna space bus, which reportedly suffered a tyre blowout and the driver lost control of the vehicle , which somersaulted several times .

 

The Head of Operations, FRSC in the state , Mr Segun Ogungbemide, who confirmed the crashes, said they occurred as a result of excessive speed, adding that the corpses of the deceased had been deposited in the morgue of the Ore General Hospital, while the injured were taken to the same hospital.


“The two fatal accidents are avoidable, because they occurred as a result of excessive speed by the drivers of the vehicles,” Ogungbemide stated.


He urged the motorists to always comply with rules and regulations and avoid excessive speed




Friends have taken to Facebook to mourn the expectant mother. One of them Onyinye Agbai, revealed that the Lexus SUV was a new gift the deceased received from her husband.


"Ginika whom did you leave your 3 kid's for????. Death why are you so wicked?. The last time I came to your house at Satellite town we discussed alot as friends not knowing that will be last time we will see each other. On 25th DEC, that I went to Blessing Uzokas house she told me that your husband bought new jeep for you n we are planning if you come back to Lagos that we will come to your house to celebrate the new car with you,, I also told her that am equally waiting to come n see your 4th baby since you are heavily pregnant. Death!! Death!!! Death!!!! how many times did I call you??? Infact you are so wicked. Nne I promise you that God Almighty will show your kids motherly love. Anyway who am to question God!!!!!!. I and entire members of BIOSSAN Anambra state university Uli campus 2013 set,,, your husband,, your lovely kids n family members will forever miss you.  Nigerian man mourns sister-in-law who died from pregnancy  Sadly, Silver’s health also took a turn for the worse and she eventually succumbed to her illness.  A Nigerian man, Anenye Anthony Chinedu, has taken to social media to mourn the tragic passing of his sister-in-law, Sochima Silver Anenye. In a post shared on Facebook, Anenye penned an heartfelt tribute to the deceased who passed away following a severe medical crisis while seven-months pregnant.
