18-month-old baby girl killed, buried by mother

Visakhapatnam: A partially decomposed body of an 18-month-old baby girl was found in the bushes near Mangalapalem under Duvvada police station limits in the city. The deceased identified as Geetha Sree died a few days ago. However, the incident recently came to light when her body was pulled out from the ground by some stray dogs in the locality.

Police said, the baby was killed by her mother Bangaru Sneha (19) and her live-in-parter N Ramana on July 17. The duo buried the body near the bushes. Investigations revealed that Sneha, a resident of Gajuwaka locality in Vizag eloped with her boyfriend Sai a few years ago and the couple lived in Vijayawada. Soon, they were blessed with a baby girl. Later, unable to put up with an alcoholic Sai, she returned to Vizag with her baby.

After returning to the city, Sneha started living with her former boyfriend Ramana in a rented house in Mangalapalem. However, the couple were not happy with the baby. On July 15, when Geetha started crying, Sneha hit her with a rice ladle. The baby sustained head injuries and later died.

To cover up, the couple buried the baby in the bushes. However, their crime was exposed when the stray dogs sniffed the body and pulled it out. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.

A Nigerian man, Anenye Anthony Chinedu, has taken to social media to mourn the tragic passing of his sister-in-law, Sochima Silver Anenye. In a post shared on Facebook, Anenye penned an heartfelt tribute to the deceased who passed away following a severe medical crisis while seven-months pregnant.
